Summarize Spoken Text是PTE考生非常头疼的一种题型，因其演讲的内容不但涉及各个方面，例如天文、地理、文学生物等等，形式多样，词汇学术性强，而且还可能会有各种口音以及背景杂音等，所以对考生的综合能力要求比较高，既要求能够听懂文章的内容，还要求具备快速抓住重点并且能够迅速记笔记的能力。
此外这部分内容是将听力和写作放在一起考察，要求考生在十分钟内写出一段50-70字的summary，所以它同时又考察了考生的学术写作能力。
题目要求
考生需要听2-3组60-90秒的录音，然后用50-70个字概括讲座大意，每题10分钟。
考察能力
1. 听懂不同口音；
2. 边听边记，即速记能力；
3. 提炼关键信息的能力；
4. 基本词汇语法能力。
评分标准
SST分为Content，Form，Grammar，Vocabulary和Spelling五个部分评分，Content，Grammar 和 Vocabulary这三个部分同SWT的评分标准一样，但是Form和Spelling的评分标准跟SWT不一样。
格式要求：
2分：字数在50-70字之间；
1分：字数在40-49个字或者是71-100个字之间；
0分：字数少于40个字或者是多于100个字，或者是全部大写，没有标点符号。
拼写：
2分：全部词语拼写正确；
1分：一个词语拼写错误；
0分：超过一个词语拼写错误。
失分原因
1. 无法提取出文章的重点；
2. Key point提取不清，不足或提取了太多；
3. 写下了key point，但后来无法把之间的关系相关联；
4. 语法错误过多，语言表述不清晰；
5. 超字数或者少字数。
解决方案
1. 由于听力内容都属于学术内容，所以考生需要了解学术文章的常见结构及内在规律，比如exemplification, compare or contrast, classification, question and answer, problem-solution等；
2. 提高自己的快速记忆能力，学会借助自己能理解的简单符号帮助记录key point；
3. 提高词汇量，去理解speech中的专业词汇 （建议考生加强学科词汇的分类记忆）；
4. 加强心理素质，即使遇到听不懂的词汇也要心情平静的继续听题。
特别注意
1. summary的字数有严格的要求，对于能力稍弱的同学，建议大家整理出一套模板以防字数不够。
2. 听的时候一定要记笔记。笔记只记主要观点， 例证、论证都不如观点重要。
3. summary的内容上要包括讲座中的主要观点和支持观点，最好使用文中听到的关键词或是关键词的同义词。保证5个以上的名词原词；形容词和副词用同义词替换(比如把significant 换成great)，同义词替换，有助于提高阅读和vocabulary的分数。
4. 拼写及语法要准确，不一定要全部复杂句。
5. 写作要规范，注意首字母大写，结尾加上标点符号，不要简写、缩写，也不要英式写法和美式写法混用。

Well, what I want to focus on now is climate change,more specifically on the fact that climate change is aresult of human activities. Now there has been somedisagreement regarding the extent to which humanactivity can be blamed for climate change but I want toargue that there is evidence which clearly demonstratesthat our own actions really are causing a genuinethreat. The available evidence seems to indicate fairlyconclusively that land and sea temperatures started toincrease around 200 years ago.
So. what's the significance of this? Well. 200 years agoroughly coincides with the beginning of the industrialrevolution in the northern hemisphere. In other words,this was when our production of harmful gases reallygot going as a result of increased industrialisation.Sincethat time our production of gases has accelerated dueto the fact that not only has industry grown in size butit has also now spread to the southern hemisphere,indeed, most parts of the world. So. in the last 200years, as industry has grown we can see a gradual rise inthe temperatures which, to my mind is sufficient proofof the damaging effect of our actions and needless tosay it's an issue which we need to address.
