做单选题，我的策略是——先看选项，然后带着问题，去找答案。
问题是，writer’s main purpose，概括题，很常考的。记住，是作者的主要目的，跟你没有任何关系，千万不要去臆测。
接着，看选项。选项有4个，都有一个共同的单词“geothermal”，这是解题的关键。
geothermal，“地热的，地温的”，如果不知道意思就麻烦了。
除外，都有in Britain，这个就不用管了，不影响做题（所以，我直接把in Britain给省略了）。
A选项，展示地热能源使用的非常普遍。
B选项，描述因地热能源使用所引起的问题。
C选项，强调地热能源使用所具有的潜在优势。
D选项，细致地描述地热能源是如何产生的。
好，我们来看文章。
第一段，很简单，讲在英国地表以下有着丰富的能源储藏量。
第二段，接着说能源的分布情况。英国北部、西南部地区有着丰富的热能，可以为很多家庭提供便利。
第三段，讲英国超过五分之一的能源可以由地热能提供。但是提取热量并转化为电力，既昂贵，又难。

文章大意如此，逻辑循序渐进，先说有，哪有，有多少，然后难，为什么难，如果成功将会怎么样。
我们，去找答案。A、B、D明显不符合题意，很直观。
C选项，潜在优势，和“如果成功将会如何”，是同一个意思，这就是文章的重点所在，也是作者的目的所在。
所以，答案选C。做概括题，带着问题去找答案效率更高，因为你有指引，省去很多无用功。
